Do something beautiful, do something rare, be free. These artists are dope.
I aim to share new artists every month or so but if nothing is found, Matt Corby and Mac Miller will be discussed because they are dope.
Reiki Ruawai
I highly recommend Reiki’s single Express. To described it as underrated is an understatement. It’s one of my favourite recent tunes, do youself a favour and check it out.
BAYNK
Incredibly artist. Esther is a must listen, in addition to all their other songs but Esther is very, very good.
Still Woozy
A series of incredible singles from the Oakland, California native in addition to some sick cover art. Favourites include vacation, foolsong and one of his new singles; that’s life.
Teischa
From Western Australia, Teischa produces head bopping surfer vibes combined with masterful instrumentals and a powerful voice. The products of her talents are an absolute auditory delight.
LANKS
The RM wearing Aussie is wonderfully under appreciated. He has three albums worth listening through from start to finish. The epitome of cool, his sound is unique, melodically rich and instrumentally diverse.
Favourites include I only wanted you, Homebound, embrace, spiritual man and twenty seven.
Kamaliza
Kamaliza has made be believe that a future ruled by algorithms may not be so bad. He was a recommended to me by the almighty spotify algorithm and thank goodness for that. My Kamaliza radio playlist has been a personal and crowd favourite. Suggested songs include Zanzibar, Intention and Cubana FM.
Harrison Brome
Great vibe, another artist found thanks to the Kamaliza Radio playlist. Favourite song, Pools.
Mindchatter
Few can sooth a chaotic mind like Mindchatter. By mirroring one’s internal beauty, trepidation and playfulness, his tunes provide comfort by letting one know that they are understood and that the racing, jumbled, conflicted and at times tranquil mind lives in us all.
Favourites include choose a side google thinks of me and days go slow.
Jordan Mackampa
Like a plane in the sky or a bird that's up in the trees Just let me be free Let me be free.
From England with roots in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Jordan infuses rhythm with beauty to create songs that buoy one’s soul.
My favourite song is ‘Teardrops in a Hurricane’ and he latest release is ‘Come Around EP’, check him out.
Shalom Dubas
I found Shalom while listening to the Kamaliza Radio playlist. She is incredible. Recommended songs include Laces and Mind Over Matter (You’re Telling Me)
Colson Whitehead
A celebrated author who I was told about recently and have been an evangelist of ever since.
My favourite quote comes from his widely celebrated ‘The Underground Raildroad’ is “Freedom was a community labouring for something lovely and rare”.
Max Fry and Lhasa Petik
They are two separate artists but their collaborations are amazing. Melodic, soothing and rhymic. Max and Lhasa are wonderful together. Favourites include take it slow, overwinter and think I lost u.
Sabahlira
Two best friends and former housemate try to maintain their friendship.
