My Heart’s Desires

Pslam will take a year and nine days to uncover them. For those who start this year, the year of the Olympics, it will take a year and eight days. Many others will neither find nor bother to seek their heart’s desires. Whereas I, my heart’s desires, like the road as a presidential motorcade approaches, are clear.

A heart, peaceful, like a battlefield after a white flag has been raised.

A soul, tranquil, like a clear blue lake nestled between mountain peaks under the comforting midmorning early spring sun.

Nothing more, nothing less. With a peaceful heart and a tranquil soul, the joy from moments of triumph is enhanced, the despair of my failures is assuaged, and meaning is created in the long and often mundane stretches in between.
